Blabla Kids

Blabla Kids

Concept
Blabla Kids creates contemporary hand knit dolls, accessories and home décor for children. Designed by Florence Wetterwald and handmade by Peruvian artisans, their products are eco‐friendly, and made from natural fibers of exceptional quality, which makes them irresistibly soft and cuddly.

Blabla Kids was created in 2001 by Susan Pritchett and Florence Wetterwald, two good friends with the same philosophy of life and beauty.

While visiting Peru, they came across entire villages of expert knitters who had been keeping the tradition alive for generations. Inspired by their talent and touched by their gentle spirit, the two decided to start their own company of knitted products for children. They have now been collaborating with the same artisans for over a decade. The product range continues to grow and now includes soft dolls, rattles, finger puppets, mobiles, and a home décor line called Petit Home which includes crib bedding, sheets and blankets, pillows and play pads.
Joined by Florence’s husband, Joseph Strong, in 2003, the company has evolved into a close‐knit group of friends and family with a mission to continue to inspire joy and laughter. With a commitment to fair trade and keeping environmental awareness in mind, Susan, Florence, and Joseph feel very lucky to be able to bring a little bit of tenderness to so many children every day.

These high quality products are currently sold at their flagship store in Atlanta, GA as well as nearly 50 countries worldwide. The company continues to honor the ethical principle upon which it was founded, engaging in environmentally friendly fair trade practices and commissioning rigorous third party testing of all fabric dyes, stuffing and small parts.

The Random House Books for Young Readers imprint of Random House Children’s Books will publish an original board book series based on the property beginning in Fall 2016. The first two titles, Peekaboo Pierre and Sleepy Little Wooly, feature Blabla Kids characters and simple toddler concepts. Two more titles will follow in 2017.

Children worldwide love the animated shorts, created by the Blabla Kids team in their design studio! These shorts can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/album/2862112.

Return of the Dodger

Return of the Dodger

Concept
Return of the Dodger tells the unknown story of Oliver Twist and the Artful Dodger in 1890’s London.

Jack Dawkins was only 12 when a London judge deported him to Australia. Nicknamed the Artful Dodger, he was the top pickpocket in Fagin’s gang of child thieves. Dodger and his friend Oliver Twist stole a fortune for old Fagin. But that was long ago. Today, the Dodger is over 40. And he’s back in London.

Follow the artful one and his beautiful daughter (yes, he has a daughter now) as they take Victorian London by storm — in search of Fagin’s treasure.

See them finagle their way into high society. Watch them dodge enemies, avoid traps, and rediscover Oliver Twist himself.

It’s the adventure of a lifetime — with gold at the end of the rainbow.

Poby’s Adventures

Poby’s Adventures

Concept
Poby is a fictional character for children, created by Heiko Kiera – when he was only fourteen years old – while living in an orphanage in former East Germany.

As an “older” teenager, Heiko had to read bedtime stories to the younger children once a week, but instead of reading the Brother Grimm’s fairy tails, he decided to give those little orphans something special, something that they could all relate to.

And so Poby was invented - a magical blue lamb that was made from stars. His purpose was to cheer up the very sad moon (children who have lost their parents are extreme sad beings. Their cries of loneliness remain all too often ignored in such institutions).

The moon liked Poby so much that he adopted him as his son. Being a lamb on the moon is very difficult indeed, because all sheep need grass to eat, but grass doesn’t grow in space! So every night the moon has to descent to the highest mountain cliff on earth, to drop his son off (not for Kindergarten but…) so he can wander around to find some food.

But before leaving, Poby always has to promise to return in time before the sun rises or else the moon will have to leave without his son and Poby will be trapped on earth forever.

But like all youngsters, one night Poby forgets about the passing time and when he returns to the cliff, the sun is high up and the moon is gone. Now Poby is all alone and he becomes an orphan himself (just like Heiko’s little audience in the German orphanage).

Poby had to quickly learn to survive on his own; courageously he faced all sorts of adventures and made many friends on his way to acquire the needed wisdom to become a hero. His friends eventually became his family on earth, but he always remained in touch with the moon and the stars, who provided him with the magical powers to fight all evil.

Back in those days, the Poby stories gave the children in that German orphanage great joy and much needed hope. Soon every child wanted to be like little Poby. Needless to say, Poby became very popular indeed and even the older children joined the weekly “Poby Story Session”.

After leaving the orphanage, there was no need to continue telling Poby stories, but he always lingered in the back of Heiko’s mind…years later, Heiko became curious about what Poby would actually look like as an illustrated character. So without any drawing skills or background in art, he boldly got some paint and primitively began illustrating “Poby Adventures” back in 1996…
