Olive the Ostrich will be participating in the 2015 White House Easter Egg Roll

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Monday, April 6th, 2015, the First Family will host the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll, and more than 35,000 people will gather on the South Lawn to join in the celebrations. The theme for this year’s Easter Egg Roll is “#GimmeFive.”

As part of the fifth anniversary of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative, Mrs. Obama is challenging Americans across the country to #GimmeFive things they are doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life. Individuals and families can get involved by sharing on social media five things they’re doing to be healthy and passing on the challenge to others with #GimmeFive. The #GimmeFive challenge has already begun, and it will be a fun and central part of this year’s Easter Egg Roll.

In support of Let’s Move!, the event will feature sports and fitness zones, cooking demonstrations, and Easter classics such as the egg roll and egg hunt, in addition to live music and storytelling.

Olive is an ostrich with a big imagination, huge heart and a gigantic appetite for adventure! She lives in the outback with her family, but Olive is different… What makes Olive special is her amazing imagination. So while her family is running, pecking and laying eggs, Olive can be found imagining herself going on exciting adventures when she buries her head, down, deep down into the sand…

Olive the Ostrich debuted in the US on Sprout in mid 2012 and is currently shown in Australia, Denmark, UK, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Benelux, France, Poland, Canada, and Israel. In each episode, animators bring to life real pictures drawn by children. The children’s artwork is used to create all the guest characters, places and objects that Olive encounters. Inquisitive and enthusiastic, Olive loves to solve problems and help people whenever she can. She’ll try anything once, which can get her into trouble, but she always finds fun and inventive ways to get out of it.

“Blue-Zoo is thrilled that Olive has been invited to participate in the White House Easter Egg Roll for the third year running - it’s a fantastic event, which we are very proud to support,” said Oli Hyatt, Co-founder and Creative Director of Blue-Zoo and creator of Olive the Ostrich. “While Olive doesn’t like laying eggs, she more than understands the importance them and she is pleased to be on hand to help shape official US policy on egg hunting!!”

“Olive the Ostrich is continuing to win the hearts of children throughout North America,” said Catherine Malatesta, President of Lawless Entertainment, Olive the Ostrich’s agent for licensing, merchandising, and publishing in North America. “Her young fans will be thrilled to see her poking her head around the White House Easter Egg Roll.”

This year’s White House Easter Egg Roll features five souvenir eggs. Four of the eggs are painted in festive colors – sea breeze blue, sunburst orange, petunia purple, and spring green. These eggs feature the stamped signatures of the President and First Lady on the back. The fifth egg, the “Bo and Sunny” egg, is a natural American Birchwood egg that is included only in the 2015 5-pack Collector’s Egg Set. This egg has the stamped “signatures” and “paw prints” of Bo and Sunny on the back.
